Robber who mugged senior woman arrested

News media coverage and a public tip helped police identify and locate a thug who allegedly robbed a senior woman at a Frankford ATM on Aug. 3.

Patrol cops in Southwest Philly’s 12th district captured Dawone Wright, 37, following a report of a disturbance on the 6000 block of Reinhard St. When officers went to the scene, an anonymous tipster informed them that Wright, who lives on the block, was the man seen in surveillance video robbing the ATM patron outside a Wells Fargo at 5119 Frankford Ave.

Previously, police had released video of the robbery to the news media. In the video, the mugger is seen grabbing cash from the 64-year-old woman’s hands and pulling her violently. The woman injured her shoulder and required hospital treatment, police said.

When confronted by police about the robbery, Wright surrendered without incident. ••
